Monika Dirsytė‘s performance “I‘m Your Sun“ was introduced for the first time in the Jonas Mekas’s Visual Art Centre in Vilnius. Later it was shown at the international contemporary art fair “Art Vilnius’15”, where visitors selected Dirsytė as the best artist in the fair. This fact leaded Dirsytė into the international art scene: performance was presented in “ArtMarket Budapest” and “Burster Gallery” in Berlin.
Dirsytė‘s performance “I‘m Your Sun“ talks about selfishness of love and lovers’ egoism, on purpose to hold dear person nearby at any cost. Like in other artist’s works, here every detail is thoroughly considered and has a meaning. The author creates a micro world where the laws of reality are reflected but they are imparted in an extraordinary manner. Dirsytė herself calls her oeuvres magic realism. Probably it is quite accurate, although it is a literary term which defines her working methods.
In the performance “I‘m Your Sun“ three important elements act – environment, character, played by the artist, and spectator.
